Newspaper Caption: Grade school boys of the Fairwater grade school captured first place honors at the Fond du Lac County grade school basketball tournement held from Mar. 9 to 11. The boys defeated Taycheedah and Lake View schools in the play-offs to take the tournement. Players with their coach, L. L. Newspaper Caption: Parents and team members and other village sports fans turned out for the honor banquet at Fairwater Saturday night to pay homage to the grade school boys who took the county basketball tournement. A dinner, speeches and games featured the evening's entertainment.


Fairwater School Takes County Cage Title

     Fair Water--The Fair Water village school basketball team won the championship among two-room schools at a tournement at the Fond du Lac YMCA Thursday. It defeated liberty school, 19-13, in the championship game.
     Members of the squad are Maurice Schmuhl, Robert Lenz, David Beier, Jerry Stellmacher, William Kuehn, Warren Frei, Dale Kastein, Douglas Miles and Larry Haase.

Honor Fairwater Team at Banquet Saturday Night

     Fairwater--A dinner was held Saturday evening at the Civic center in honor of the Fairwater grade school basketball team which won two championship trophies during the past season.
     A program followed. It included an introduction of the players by L. L. Thompson; a song, "School Days," by the players' fathers; a talk, "Our Boys," by Lowell Laper; presentation of a gift to Coaches Thompson and Laper by Billy Kuehn, captain of the team; group singing led by FRancis Kuehn Sr.; a reading, "My Son," by Melvin Stellmacher; accordian selections by Yvonne Dahlke; and group singing.
     A father-son free throwing content was held after the program, with honors giong [sic] to Maurice Schmuhl and Alfred Haase.

Basketball Team Feted By Mrs. Herb Schmuhl

     Fair Water--Mrs. Herbert Schmuhl entertained at a 5:30 p. m. dinner at her home Tuesday night. Guests were members of the Fair Water school basketball team, the cheerleaders, L. L. Thompson, Ronnie Bliefnick and Lowell Laper. Mrs. Schmuhl was assisted by Mrs. Melvin Stellmacher, Mrs. Ervin Lenz, Mrs. F. H. Kuehn and Mrs. H. C. Meier. The evening was spent playing bunco.
